 Cost Half day sessions available for £25, including light refreshments, this will be 10am - 12.00pm or 1pm - 3pm paid monthly in advance.
Full day sessions in Bishops Stortford, 10am until 3pm, are £45.00 per day (including a hot meal for lunch and refreshments throughout the day) paid monthly in advance.

A dementia support worker

Who is it for?

People with Mild to moderate dementia who want to make the most of their life

The group is aimed at people with mild to moderate dementia who are mobile and do not need personal care

What Happens at the group?

The group is based on Cognitive Stimulation Therapy. Debbie Baker is a trained CST facilitator.

Below is an example of a group session:


- Warm Welcome with a nice cup of tea or coffee, biscuits and the chance to catch up with the others in the group

10.25am - Orientation board. Physical activity and fun is the theme which may include one or more of the following: singing, dancing, exercise to music, indoor bowls, skittles, golf, and musical movement etc.

11.30am - Refreshments are served followed by more activities before lunch (we often have displays and workshops at this time which could include a dance display, African drum workshop, a musician to name a few)

12.30pm - Fish and Chips from the local chippy

1.00pm - A short walk to get some fresh air after lunch

1.25pm - cup of tea/coffee plus a sing song and a look at the orientation board

1.40pm - A discussion on current affairs and what is going on in the world today from newspapers or stories we have heard on the radio or TV

2.00pm - Activities around the theme of the week, which could be: sound, faces, travel, life history, food etc.This could be in the form of a quiz, word search, board game, crosswords, poetry, art and crafts. (From time to time we invite speakers to either give a talk about something related to the theme or hold a workshop or display)

2.30pm - Refreshments are served followed by another short activity

3.00pm - Home

All staff and volunteers are Dementia Friends, have attended training in dementia awareness and the principles of CST amongst other mandatory training, they have also undergone an advanced DBS check
